In the school year
2000/2001 the two 5 classes of Primary School ‘Orsini 1’ of Amelia
made a theatrical activity included in a project which
interested a net of Italian and European
schools of every order and degree. The project, called
‘Petit Prince in Euroland’ was set in the programme P.R.I.N.C.E.
aimed to inform the European citizens about the use of the new money. In
addition of having the
purpose of familiarizing young people about the EURO, the project wanted
to go into the values and the ideas which are the main
foundations of a united, multicultural and universalist Europe.
By the eyes of Petit Prince, the main character of Saint Exupery’s
famous book, students were driven to know the cultural differences by a
looking able to argue and to see with the heart, to gather a community
of ideas and values in other people. After
reading the book, teachers decided to use an expressive form that could
involve students completely: the theatrical language. Thanks to
the helping of some sponsors, it was possible to have the guide of the
director Corrado Sorbara.Together with the teachers, he started a real
theatrical laboratory which was planned at the beginning on a series of
preliminary activities and then led to the performance ‘When I was a
child’ in the Teatro Sociale of Amelia.
The
work was carried out in “open classes” by the teachers of
‘modulo’ and involved the 34 students of the 5 classes. |
